Edison Oeuvre Award for Carel Kraayenhof

The bandoneonist and composer Carel Kraayenhof receives an Edison award for his entire oeuvre and his extraordinary meaning for Dutch music. The prize will be presented to him on 6 July in the LantarenVenster theater in Rotterdam.

Kraayenhof established his name in the Netherlands with his rendition of the song Adiós Nonino in the Nieuwe Kerk at the wedding of Willem-Alexander and Máxima. According to the jury report, the world had already more than recognized him for that. The Argentine master of tango, Astor Piazzolla, had already invited Kraayenhof in 1987 to play in the musical Tango Apasionado.

The jury calls Kraayenhof (59) a world star, who performed with popular and classical musicians and pop stars. This year he and his ensemble will be making a farewell tour through the Dutch theaters.

We congratulate him with this award.
